About Us
Welcome to Rooks Heath school
“Leaders and managers… ensure that teaching is good and that pupils make progress. Expectations are high.” Ofsted 2019
Rooks Heath School has been delivering excellent comprehensive secondary education to 11 – 18-year old girls and boys as an Academy since 2011. In 2017, a Multi Academy Trust was created, linking the School to Earlsmead Primary School with the option of adding further schools in the future.
The School is located in the London Borough of Harrow, close to the border with Hillingdon and Ealing and often takes applicants from outside the Borough. The popularity of the School has grown and the student roll has significantly increased over the years at a time of falling numbers in Harrow generally. Rooks Heath has a unique profile and is culturally, linguistically and religiously diverse and promotes an ethos of inclusion where every student strives to be their best and achieve success.
Many students have English as an additional language and they are therefore skilled in a variety of languages as well as in English. The School has a highly inclusive approach to ensure that all students are welcomed, cared for and supported to give their very best and achieve their full potential. This includes our dedicated Special Educational Needs department. Each year, several students are accepted into their university of choice including the universities in the Russell group. A significant number of students also have refugee status and are dedicated to making a new life for themselves through hard work and commitment to their studies. These children will often start school at a very low level but a combination of the inclusive ethos, targeted teaching strategies at Rooks Heath and a thirst for learning leads them to achieve grades that are in line with the National Average when they take their exams.
“Pupils’ personal development and welfare are outstanding.” Ofsted 2019
We offer an extensive curriculum and are one of a few comprehensive secondary schools to offer both Latin from year 7 and Ancient Greek from year 9 through to key stage 5 where students can sit A levels. Wherever possible student groups are kept small to achieve best outcomes and appropriate support and learning pathways are developed for the individual needs of each student. There is a comprehensive curriculum for students at Key Stages 4 and 5 and the almost all students at Rooks Heath remain in education or training. Rooks Heath has a reputation for having exceptional pastoral support and has a caring and dedicated staff. The School is lead, by Mrs Miriam Manderson who joined Rooks Heath in September 2019.
“The sixth form is good. Students make good progress: they receive good advice and support.” Ofsted 2019
Parents, carers and visitors often comment on the friendly atmosphere that is promoted between staff and students at Rooks Heath.
“Leaders and managers have created a welcoming and inclusive school community.” Ofsted 2019
