AQA Functional English Level 1 and 2
This is an advanced course for those who have passed the AQA Entry Level courses. This also offers preparation for the main elements of GCSE English Language.
Students will be assessed in three components:
Component 1 - Reading
Students are expected to read texts carefully, including interpreting inference, in order to answer the comprehension questions successfully.
Component 2 - Writing
Students are required to write a range of texts for a variety of purposes and audiences. For example, they will need to be able to communicate information, ideas and opinions, using correct grammar and adapting the style and format of their writing to the appropriate audience.

- Applications and CVs;
- Adverts; Leaflets; Poster
- Post cards
- Narrative and Descriptive writing
- Invitations;
- Instructions
Component 3 - Speaking, Listening and Communication
Students will take part in more than one formal and informal discussion for Level 1 and more than one discussion and one presentation for Level 2.
Students should have achieved the desired level in each component in order to be certificated.
