We allow students to choose this option instead of a Modern Foreign Language option choice. Students will have three lessons a fortnight and they will be working through the planned and prepared tasks aimed at enabling them to achieve success at mastering the functional elements of the Year 8 National Curriculum syllabus.

Examples of Speaking and Listening tasks the students will undertake include: presentations on varying topics such as: Shakespeare and his works. Meanwhile, they will read books of different levels. Writing tasks include: film reviews, leaflets on different topics, letter writing for different purposes, like for example: letters of sympathy towards Sandy Hook Elementary School pupils. Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to develop their independent learning strategies as well as to further their collaborative skills.
