Sociology
A Level Sociology
It is not a requirement to have studied Sociology at GCSE but if you have, a Grade C or above is required. It is also an entry requirement that students have obtained a Grade C or above in GCSE English and in a relevant Humanities or Social Science GCSE (e.g. History, RE or Geography).
What will students study?
AS level:
Unit One: Families and Households (40% of AS, 20% of A Level) 1 hour paper
Unit Two: Education with Research Methods (60% of AS, 30% of A Level) 2 hour paper.
A2 level:
Unit Three: Mass Media (40% of A2, 20% of A Level) 1 hour 30 minutes paper Unit Four: Crime & Deviance with Theory & Methods (60% of A2, 30% of A-Level) 2 hour paper.
A Level Sociology is assessed 100% by exam.
